The Canadian electorate are well informed and don’t panic in the face of sky is falling rhetoric. We chose pragmatism over ideology. That’s the first bit of good news from these three byelections.
The second is the full indictment of Poilievre and his merry band of sycophantic Quislings who sit atop the Conservative Party. If the party elders cannot figure out it’s time for some major surgery to return to its nation builder roots, they’re lost.
Both parties have always succeeded by competing over the middle ground of Canadian politics and the country has benefited from the stability.
If we need to see where playing the margins and pandering to extremes to secure power, look at Kenny’s Wild Rose mistake in Alberta, the USA’s current flirtation with right wing grievance politics and Israel’s pandering to extremist parties to form governing coalitions. The tail always wags the dog and governments are held hostage by the fringe. The people always lose.
Progressives need to take a stand. The right ‘kind’ of progressive needs to take a stand. The party of Diefenbaker, Robert Stanfield, et al must resurrect itself and cast out those who have defiled the party with their grievance, racist, hate filled politics. Start with Skippy - low hanging fruit.

Keep voting out the conservatives. If they won’t clean their house, Canadian voters will.
