In a modern Canada, our host First Peoples *must* be allowed to retake the role of “the Crown” — hereditary stewards of the land & its people — if we are ever to be truly reconciled with them, and with our obligations to them as their welcomed guests.
Imagine the clarity that would come from our Head of State holding the moral & Constitutional authority to reject legislation that fails to respect the rights of indigenous peoples and their lands: no more “will there be a requirement for consultation on project X” BS, as the answer is what it should have always been, “Hell yes, until the rightful landowners’ concerns have been satisfied.”
Thanks~ Excited to read the book Bo!
Thanks, Bo!
