About The Sanity Project
News for a saner world
The Sanity Project helps Canadians make sense of the claims shaping our country. We examine politics, trade, energy, public policy and the stories behind the headlines, with evidence, plain language and the occasional raised eyebrow.
We have a progressive, Canada-first point of view. We also believe readers deserve accurate facts, clear sources and room to judge our conclusions for themselves. Canada has real problems. Calling every problem proof that the country is “broken” does little to solve them.
What you’ll find here
Expect timely news analysis, deeper explainers, checks on misleading claims and practical guides for Canadians. Some pieces report what happened; others explain what it means or argue for a course of action. We aim to make that distinction clear.

Corrections and sources
We link to the sources behind our factual claims whenever possible and check dates, figures and context before publishing. Our analysis has a point of view, but the facts supporting it must withstand scrutiny.
If we get a material fact wrong, we correct it and add a dated note explaining the change. Readers can flag a possible error by replying to an edition or contacting us through the publication. We welcome specific corrections, including a link to the evidence.
Who’s behind it
I’m Bo Kauffmann, the writer and publisher of The Sanity Project. I’m based in Winnipeg and bring decades of experience in public service and working with Canadians to the questions I cover here.
I started this publication because too much public debate runs on fear, spin and false choices. The Sanity Project is a place to slow down, check the evidence and ask what would actually make life better.
